Our History

The League was founded as a nonpartisan organization in 1920 by Carrie Chapman Catt to help women become more politically active after garnering the right to vote.

Since then, the League has continued to grow as a non-partisan grassroots organization, encouraging its members to be politically involved while promoting civic engagement and education throughout their communities.
